Management

Karen Shapiro, Chief Executive Officer
Karen Shapiro is a successful entrepreneur and business innovator who has 25 years of experience building businesses and marketing financial services. Ms. Shapiro is co-founder of Dedicated DB and a co-founder of Leaffer Shapiro, the pioneering defined benefit services company that sold more than 1,300 Small Business Defined Benefit Plans. Prior to co-founding both companies, Shapiro worked for Bank of America for 18 years, most recently as Senior Vice President and Director of Online Channel Management. Ms. Shapiro has a Ph.D. in Communications Research from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Arts in Cognitive Psychology from Columbia University. Ms. Shapiro was an acting assistant professor at Stanford University and contributed to several books on research methodology. She is on the Board of Directors for the Joe Goode Performance Group, a performing arts organization in San Francisco, and the New York International Children's Film Festival.

Richard Collins, President
Richard Collins is recognized leader in the pension industry and has a long track record of success in managing third-party administration companies. Prior to co-founding Dedicated DB, Mr. Collins was President of RC & Associates, a consulting firm that worked with pension firms across the United States. Before that, Mr. Collins was President and CEO of Associated Pension Consultants, a top-ranked, third-party administration firm. While at Associated Pension Consultants, he grew the firm into the largest third-party administrator in the West, with more than 4,000 plans. Mr. Collins is an Accredited Pension Administrator (APA) since 1993 and a former President of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA) from 1997-1998. In 2004, he received the NIPA's Lifetime Achievement Award for his many years of volunteer service and contributions to the pension industry. He is also a member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries (ASPA). Mr. Collins earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science from California State University, Chico. He completed graduate studies in political economy at Leeds University, England.

Art Leaffer, Executive Vice President
Art Leaffer has more than 25 years of experience marketing and developing financial services products. Mr. Leaffer is co-founder of Dedicated DB and co-founder of Leaffer Shapiro, a pioneering defined benefits services company that sold more than 1,300 Small Business Defined Benefit Plans. Prior to starting both companies, Mr. Leaffer worked as a Director at Charles Schwab and as Vice President at both Bank of America and Wells Fargo Bank. During his career, Mr. Leaffer has led the development and launch of consumer and business retirement programs distributed by banks, brokerage and mutual fund companies. Mr. Leaffer has been a speaker at national conferences sponsored by the Security Industry Association (SIA) and the Investment Company Institute (ICI). He earned a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and an MBA at San Francisco State University.
